Summer at Grow Poster Illustration

Digital Illustration Adobe Fresco

Series graphic project details:

Title: Summer at Grow

Art direction:  The client provided an image of their inspiration for the series. They liked the colorfulness of it specifically, and that it felt fun. Another idea was for the series to have a vector look. The assets were to be used at all Southwest Florida campuses for their Church service message series.

My Process

To begin I provided the client a mood board with three illustration styles to choose from. The keywords were, Colorful, Vector, and Fun. The second option was a colorful collage with solid colors, limited palette, and hand lettering titles. With that decided I then visited one of the facilities and took a casual questionnaire asking members of the church “Name an object that represents/is synonymous with Summer to you?” The responses looked like this…

Sunshine
Fish
Fish
Ice cream
Rain
Trails, water bottles, Alligators

Beach Umbrella
Surfboard
Flowers
Bathing suit
Paddleboard
Shorts

Sandals
Birds (seagulls, pelicans)
Beach ball
Pineapple
Watermelon
Sand

With that I began my sketch up which was later approved with minor adjustments…

The series poster was then delivered and used to create supporting digital content, video content, and stationary assets.

Video timelapse with commentary on the process.

Results

Our expectations were defined early on and we had excellent communication throughout but only when necessary. This allowed for minimal changes and satisfaction of the final delivery.

As a result, a value-driven asset was provided which freed up time and resources to their creative department, allowing them to prioritize other in-house projects.
